The Birmingham Beginnings

Well friends… this is the beginning of my blog! In an attempt to keep people abreast as to what’s happening in my new Birmingham life, I have created this riveting website to keep you interested and excited!

For those of you who might not know, I graduated from Union University in May and moved to Birmingham to work in a church with high school girls. I am apart of a wonderful staff and church family. This is not at all where I thought I’d be, but the Lord is very good at surprising me! It has been a marvelous adventure so far! I love the girls, their families, the people I work with, my apartment, Birmingham, and everything else that comes with it! The Lord has been very gracious to affirm my being here over and over again over the past month and a half. We serve a very good God!

I would love to use this blog as a means to update you on how you can be praying. Student Ministry can be such an important thing.. I know it was in my life – Thank you, Nate and Kari! Every time I travel, I send out newsletters or email updates, and this is just as prayer worthy! I want to be faithful to the Gospel, to the Lord and to the Word in my ministry to these girls. I walked into a wonderful and healthy situation and am surrounded by people – students, parents and staff – who are more passionate than I am. It’s an encouraging environment and my church family here has been so welcoming and loving! There are plenty of people here to take care of me and love on me!

Things you can be praying for this week… We are headed to Camp on Monday morning. We are taking 281 students! I’m so excited to spend all week with them and continue to learn more about them. We’re headed to an adventure camp in East Tennessee! The week will be filled with lots of fun, but also serious time in the Word and in musical worship. I’m really looking forward to it! Please be praying for the Lord’s presence to be heavy. Pray for the students to fully surrender… and for lives to be changed!

Thank you for partnering with me in this journey. I cant wait to tell you about the great things God does!

About theshadyladies

I recently moved to Birmingham to do high school girls ministry. I love sports, especially Kansas. I love to travel and pray for the opportunity to do it more! I am originally from Kansas City, but Jackson, Tennessee stole my heart. I love to sleep and to read. I am completely in love with the Gospel and the One whose story it tells. My mom is my best friend. I absolutely love my job and the girls with whom I spend my days!

Always good news to hear what the Lord is doing in your life. This is the week before camp for us …you remember how that was? Miss your bubbly personality but know the ladies there are so blessed. God truly blesses those who love Him.
